Churchill Specialist Contracting are pleased to announce the 3 year extension to their current term contract to inspect & maintain chimneys and cooling towers at British Steel Scunthorpe.

The focus of Churchills management team and those under their charge, will continue to be centred around building upon a shared positive Health & Safety culture with British Steel, with worker involvement encouraged at all times.

As we have done over the previous 3 years Churchill will look to reduce, as much as it reasonably practicable  to do so, time spent working at height. Working with British Steel we will continue to utilise powered access as the preferred method for accessing tall structures whilst developing our UAV camera surveys to include a heat camera to allow structures to be inspected whilst remaining in service. This will also help identify any potential issues where internal refractory linings may have failed and require attention. Removing the need for costly down time periods whilst providing ample time to fully plan and strategise to coincide with planned outage periods.

In addition other services offered by Churchills including structural waterproofing and specialist coatings via our Enviro division continues to be of interest to British Steel with a significant increase in spend during 2016, which is set to increase further throughout 2017.
